Hankin, Kelly (Fall 2001). "Lesbian Locations: The Production of Lesbian Bar Space in the Killing of Sister George". Cinema Journal 41 (1): 3-27.

This journal article provides both rudimentary information surrounding the film, and the importance and decision-making involved in the choice of the lesbian bar displayed in the film. Hankin uses Aldrich’s own notes to define the meanings given to the work, and reasons and actions taken to reach the final product, specifically the finished scene in the lesbian bar. This source is important for my Wikipedia article because it contains information about the importance of the film to the LGBTQA community, and because it has necessary information not already in the existing page. This source is a journal article from a reputable source, and thus fits with the Wikipedia standards by being a primary source published in a reputable journal.

Silver, Alain (1995). What Ever Happened to Robert Aldrich?: His Life and His Films. New York: First Limelight Edition. ISBN 0-87910-185-7.

This biography details the entire life of Robert Aldrich, focusing on his films. In this novel, Silver had detailed access to a lot of information about the film, its reception and circumstances, and the legal battle that ensued. This is important to my article because it provides a source for the legal battle held due to this movie at the very least, and may be a source for other bits of information. This fits Wikipedia standards by being a published book from a reputable company, with equally reputable sources.

This entry in the British Board of Film Classification provides more in depth information about the censorship of The Killing of Sister George in Britain, one of the films largest target audiences. The BBFC details not only when and how much censorship occurred, but also how it changed over time and why specifically it was censored. This fits my Wikipedia article by providing more detailed information and a reputable source for censorship of the film. This is a website article from the British Board of Film Classification, making it a reputable primary source.

This guide entry provides information about the film The Killing of Sister George and how it was seen in its time of viewing. The author demonstrates that the critics of the time took the actions of the main characters as a true-to-life portrayal of lesbian women, and in general saw this film as a realistic look into the lives of all lesbian women. This source works well with my Wikipedia article by providing a look at critical reception and how lesbian women of the era saw the film. This source also fits Wikipedia standards by being a secondary source (review) published in a journal.
