Dr. Ben Davis has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics and his M.S. in Nuclear Astrophysics from the University of Notre Dame. His career has included software development and industrial controls engineering. As a lifelong fan of science fiction, his main avocations now involve history, futurism and skepticism. He is semi-retired and works as a college professor. “Dr. Ben” lectures on a number of subjects ranging from computer programming and math to, of course, astronomy and physics. He is a regular at ConCarolinas, DragonCon, RavenCon and LibertyCon. He was the Science Guest of Honor at LibertyCon in 2016.
"Dr. Ben" is most recently known for his Science of Explosives presentation, where he detonates small explosive charges in a steel-reinforced Lexan chamber. As a known skeptic, he also has a standing offer to investigate and document any paranormal activity in the U.S. Carolina Piedmont area.
"Dr. Ben" shares articles and answers a variety of science questions on his Facebook Page, www.facebook.com/AskDrBen. He currently has a following of over 2000 subscribers. He has also participated in a number of podcasts.
