Chico's Revenge is a Seattle area rock band that is quickly gathering a loyal following among the local punk and heavy metal fans as well as many of the more traditional rock music fans in the area.
Beginnings
[edit]Chico's Revenge began in a bar in Renton, WA where singer James(J) Gaston and bassist Chris (Chris of Doom, or COD) Shea worked together as line cooks. Shea and Gaston had both been in bands previously (punk/metal and industrial metal respectively) and were looking for something with a different sound. The two decided to start a band and went looking for more members.
Shea called up his longtime friend Mike Swenning who had played guitar with Shea in a previous band, Hobo Libido. Together, along with drummer Jaime Folthengil (another employee at the bar) they formed Chico's Revenge and began practicing in a bomb shelter at Gaston's home.
Early Live Shows
[edit]The band played their first show a short three months after they formed. On March 14th, 2008, Chico's Revenge debuted at The Central Saloon in Seattle, WA when they played (along with fellow local band Indecisive Rythym) at a record release party for friends' band, Hobo Libido.
The debut was quickly followed with numerous other shows at many local venues (including The Funhouse, Fuel, Bender's and The Red Line). the band was working very hard and playing an average of 1-2 shows per month until June 2008 when they took a break to record their demo "Super Sexy Time Machine Guns".
Recording
[edit]Super Sexy Time Machine Guns (in addition to being the name of one of their songs) is the title of a 5 track EP which included "fan favorite" tracks; The Mohawk, Flaming Knife Fight, MIV-27, Sore Thumb, and 101.
Chico's Revenge is currently working on a full length album of the same name.
Return
[edit]After the demo was finished, Chico's Revenge returned to the local music scene with a vengence, playing more shows at iconic Seattle venues The Central Saloon, The Funhouse and Hell's kitchen. In March 2009, Chico's Revenge was invited to be the opening band at the May 16th 2009 show of the reunion tour for legendary punk band The Meatmen
