Re:Bindi

Namaste Bakasuprman. Thanks for your comments on my talk page. I have actually used the term Indian subcontinent before without the intent of being nationalistic (see Roman Urdu and Kashmir). After Zora mentioned it, I could see why the term would be contentious among other editors from South Asia. In my opinion, if we are talking about geography, it is okay to use the term Indian subcontinent whereas if we are referring to the culture or political region, it is probably best to use South Asia. I hope this helps! Alvida, AnupamTalk 05:27, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

ALL INDIANS AND HUMANS PL. APPEAL TO MR.TERRYJ-HO IN STRONGEST WORD FOR HIS SUCH COMMENTS ON TALK PAGE OF Dmcdevit. Swadhyayee 14:21, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

The practice of Sati continues till this day..mostly due to religious sanction TerryJ-Ho 11:16, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Mr.TerryJ-Ho, If, your above statement is intentional, you are doing the worst thing of tarnishing the image of our country. I do not know your back-ground. Hope you will appreciate that sentiments of any person get hurt when his/her nation/religion/societies come under false attack. How would you feel, if so done to you? India has a population of 120,00,00000. I have completed 56 years in this country and sufficiently informed about things going in this country. I have moved in villages regularly and live in Mumbai from birth. I have hardly heard of one or two instance of Sati during my life of 56 yrs. You can't help the people who wants to self immolate. We have rich & poor, educated and un-educated, modern and orthodox, good and bad all kind of people like any other country would have. Sati Pratha came in social practice because of Muslims invaded small kingdoms, killed or captured males, raped and made women folk their wives. Indians mostly were strict vegetarians. Muslims are non-veg. The women preferred death over being raped or marrying for the second time against Hindu culture and customs. The pride of woman-hood and un-civilised behaviour of Muslims are the route cause of this deprecative social system. Though people like me who borned later are also full of wounds of the root cause of Muslims behaviour. Pl. don't make fun of our pitiable social system which do not exist anymore from more than 5 decades. You shall make yourself and your society a shame for such remarks. Can you show me a single evidence that the system of Sati exist and the roots are our religion? Where did you get this information from? You are a shame Mr.TerryJ-Ho. God will not forgive you for such in-human behaviour. Swadhyayee 14:16, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Hinduism Caste

Thanks Bakasuprman. I am not sure whether you checked edit of my removal of two paras which I feel are grossly improper and worsen the article. This was reverted by HeBhagawan. He sees that by hook or crook the article remain his way and I surprise why Priyanath support him in his non-sense inclusions. The article is free of any axis. I commented that there is 1) way of preaching and 2) way of life. This article should have way of preaching as axis. For way of life, the article must be seperate. Somehow, they are not open to correction.

Will you pl. see my edits of 7-11-06 and reversal by HeBhagawan and change it, if you too find it ir-relevant?

Bad Faith Attempts to remove Vedic Metal

Hi Bakaman, some users are trying to remove any mention of Vedic Metal from Wikipedia. Vedic metal was an article which was Afded twice and got deleted twice, mainly because of disinterest from concerned Wikipedians. Currently, it is a sub-section of the article Folk metal and some users are trying to remove it from there as well. Please check these diffs - diff1, diff2. Apart from that, check out the Talk:Folk metal. I think, as Indians and Hindus, we must not let Indophobes remove Indian material.

OIT

Bakaman, OIT is proving continuous culture/religion from at least 4000 BC to present time in India. That makes Hinduism oldest in the world. OIT also makes a strong case for PIE being in India or close. This position can be presented and argued easily (T, E and K have put together good arguments). It is not accepted by mainstream yet but if it is presented properly it will be soon. We have to keep working on this and take baby steps. PIE = Sanskrit can not be argued easily, Sanskrit first from PIE can be argued. Movement you bring in religion or PVC with culture before last ice age (Frawley’s assertion in some cases) it will be create allegation of propoganda. If you make Hindu statements in OIT, then people will see this as a religious position and ridicule it. So who looses in this case.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sbhushan (talkcontribs) .

Look, the best thing that can happen with the OIT page is if people who have ridiculed the theory as religious propaganda in the past can finally see it for the well-backed and possible true theory which it is. I've been through Frawley's essays as well as Knapp's and used them to build the OIT page, but the truth is there are gaping holes there and they are not supported well enough. I'm happy to blank those sections as long as I can fill it in with other evidence. By the way, saying PIE = Sanskrit is something people categorize with propaganda, I'll stay away from it. It seems clear that the Vedas were written after split of PIE to P-Anatolian and PII, otherwise lots of evidence falls into disarray. Nobleeagle [TALK] [C] 05:05, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

ISKCON

Hi, I assume that you are talking about me reassessing the importance to High. I donot question the importance of ISKCON, as I myself is a part of the volunteer group and has volunteered for many events in Seattle. However, I question the importance to Top, as we want to keep the most important topics to Hinduism in that, and if we keep adding sects it will open a pandora's box and every major sect (there are hundreds) will try to get it classified to top. Thus, I moved it to high. I hope you understand.

Google hits must not be taken as a yardstick in Asian related AfD's. Newspapers of Vernacular Languages may have millions of readership. For example, in India every state has its own language. There are more than 20 widely speaking native languages in India. But the news reports from the newspapers of such languages are not available in google search.Take the case of Malayala Manorama Newspaper. Currently this Malayalam language newspaper has a readership of over 9 million, with a circulation base of over 1.4 million copies according to Audit Beureu of Circulations. Manorama is one of the India's largest selling and most widely read news paper. There are more than 50 such newspapers in India. News reports from such dailies are not available in google eventhough it have millions of readership. But news reports from English dailies with 1000 or 2000 copies are available in google search. It is really misleading...Isn't it...? In this context of notability tests based on google hits may be a worthless, foolish effort. In such circumstances we must consider the words of native wikipedians with more importance. May I know ur valuable opinion ……?  Nileena joseph (Talk|Contribs) 06:08, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

It seems to me that this entire concept of Ayyavazhi is some big hoax in WP history. I ran a news search on all the major Tamilnadu centric newspapers and not even a single result came. I ran a search on the book, "Religion and Subaltern Agency" and not a single reference on any non-WP caching site. There is some big mischief going on. Possible POV in article

Hi Baka, I came across an article - Decline of Buddhism in India. It seems to me a very biased and POV-article. There hardly seem to any references at all. And what's that about this views and that views. Do all Indian Buddhists pertain to the view provided in the article ? I seriously doubt it. And the so-called Hindutva view is shared by many other neutral scholars as well. There do not seem to any citations as well. Actually, I have read many neutral articles on this topic and almost everywhere, it agrees with the "Hindutva" view. And that's why I am a little concerned that this article may not be NPOV.
