Piyush Baindara

[edit]

Piyush Baindara is an indian author known for his novel Ranikhet Express: The Love Track[1]. By profession he is a research scientist[2] at Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology in University of Missouri, Columbia, USA. He carried out his doctorate in microbiology from the CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh, India. His doctorate research work was focused on molecular and genetic characterization of antimicrobial peptides produced by bacteria part of which has already been published in peer reviewed scientific journals[3][4]. His work also involved use of antimicrobial peptides for effective therapeutic applications by exploring the potential bio activities of antimicrobial peptides against drug resistant bacteria including human pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis, fungi, parasites and cancer cells[5].

During doctorate he also worked with Prof. Octavio Luis Franco at Catholic University of Brasilia, Brazil as visiting research scholar in a Department of Biotechnology, India sponsored project, "Antimicrobial recombinant peptides and lipopeptides production for treatment of nosocomial infections".

Before PhD, he has accomplished his Master's degree in Life Sciences from School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. His Master's project was focused on MAP Kinase pathway inhibition and its effect on expression, activity and oligomeric status of PKM2, under the able guidance of Prof. R.N.K. Bamezai, Coordinator, National Centre of Applied Human Genetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India.

Earlier, he received his Bachelor's in Agriculture from The harbinger of green revolution in India, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India.
