I am a student at UW Bothell with an intended major in Business Administration.I currently live in Seattle, WA, and have lived here my entire life. Some of my favorite topics include Music, Geography, and Politics and i hope to make ample contributions to these specific areas.

Possible Articles to Research

Mutation breeding- This article on mutation breeding appears to be a good possibility for additions, as it is rated as a start-class article and has many areas that could be improved. The intro to the article seems well developed and shows little need for improvement, but the sub sections titled "process"and "history" could both use additional information. I think that there would be of substantial amount of outside information and sources that could be used in order to improve this page, and so it would be relatively easy to make additions. This particular topic within genetic modification also isn't very controversial and so i think it would be possible to make edits and additions to the page without too much disagreement.

Transgenesis- This article on transgenesis is rated as a start-class article and as a whole, is relatively undeveloped. Almost every section in the article is very brief and could use a lot more in-depth explanation. Just by looking at the resources section at the bottom of the page i can tell that there is a fair amount of credible scientific research on the topic and it shouldn't be hard to find resources. I am very interested in this topic and am very eager to look into it more in depth, so i think i will be able to stay motivated when making additions to the article.

Cisgenesis- The article on cisgenesis was created very recently, and so it is quite undeveloped compared to other pages i have seen. The introductory part of the article that explains the process is quite well done, but i think additions could be made in areas related to the history of the topic and a greater connection to its use in genetic modification of crops. Resources for this topic seem adequate, but they may prove to be hard to find as the subject is a very specific subset of genetic modification. I think that i could both enhance parts of what already exist in this page with more cited sources and also made some completely new additions in areas that don't yet exist.

Bt cotton- I am very interested in this topic mainly for its close connection to Monsanto and GMO, without bringing too much controversy. Instead of trying to add to these highly controversial pages, this page on a type of genetically modified plant would help me to understand the processes a lot better, without getting too into the politics of genetic modification. The page could use a lot of development in proposing both sides of the GMO debate instead of being partisan. As the article stands right now, the talk page has arguments saying that is is too "pro-GMO", and i think this needs to be changed in order to show both sides of the debate. It would be pretty straight forward to add perspectives from both sides, and i don't think i would have too much trouble finding sources that show anti-GMO arguments to better balance out the pro-GMO arguments

Genetic Resistance in Plants- There is no article that covers this topic on Wikipedia and i think its creation would be very beneficial to the topic of genetic modification as a whole. Creating genetic resistance is a huge reason that many species are genetically modified in the first place, and so i think its necessary for there to be information on the topic. There are both positive and negative aspects of this topic and so it should be possible to expose both sides of the topic without presenting a bias. I think that i will be able to find appropriate sources and information on the topic as genetic modification is already highly developed on Wikipedia and there are many credible scientific sources that can lead me to information on this specific area. /Transgenesis
