Babyenda Peter is an assistant lecturer in the department of Policy and Development Economics (PDE) at the School of Economics, Makerere University, Uganda based at Makerere University Jinja Campus. He is a PhD candidate at the School of Economics, University of Nairobi, Kenya. His areas of specialization are: Behavioral and Policy Analysis, Econometrics, Environmental, Land and Experimental Economics. His research interests are mainly in the Micro foundations of Macroeconomic aspects such as the environment, Urbanization, regionalization, climate change, biodiversity, forestry, water resources and agriculture. Beyond these, Babyenda Peter is an enthusiast of both time series, cross-section survey and panel data analysis and interpretations. Babyenda Peter has three peer reviewed journal publications on and one policy brief on his name and has trained researchers, government official and other stake holders in experimental and environmental research including valuation and evaluation of natural resources. His current PhD thesis title is Climate variability, Agricultural Productivity and Household Welfare Outcomes in Uganda where he is examining the likely potential impact of climate change on agriculture using the Ricardian model and the likely impact of climate change on household welfare such as household consumption expenditure and poverty. He will also investigate whether there is a difference in welfare outcomes between the adapting and non-adapting farming households in Uganda. Peter Babyenda has been a member of the consulting team at Uganda’s National Planning Authority and at the East African Northern Corridor Project.
