Richard Sprigg Jr. was appointed judge January 27, 1806, in place of Mr. Duvall, who did not accept; John Buchanan was appointed judge January 28, 1806, in place of Mr. Mason, who did not accept; Joseph Hopper Nicholson was appointed judge March 26, 1806, in place of Mr. Smith, who did not accept; John Mackall Gantt was appointed March 27, 1806, to succeed Judge Sprigg, deceased; Richard Tilghman Earle was appointed May 20, 1809, to succeed Judge James Tilghman, deceased; John Johnson Sr. was appointed March 25, 1811, to succeed Judge Gantt, deceased; John Done was appointed December 14, 1812, to succeed Judge Polk, deceased; William Bond Martin was appointed December 13, 1814, to succeed Judge Done, who resigned; Walter Dorsey was appointed March 14, 1817, to succeed Judge Nicholson, deceased; John Steven Jr., was appointed a judge of the Court of Apppeals December 20, 1821, to succeed Judge Johnson, who was appointed Chancellor; Chief Judge Jeremiah Chase was prevented from attending the court at June term, 1823, owing to indisposition, and resigned June 18, 1824; Stevenson Archer was appointed judge August 8, 1823, to succeed Judge Dorsey, deceased; Chief Judge Buchanan acted as chief judge of Court of Appeals during June term of 1824, on the western shore, under the 6th section of Act of 1805, chapter 65, in place of Chief Judge Chase, resigned; he was commissioned chief judge July 27, 1824; Thomas B. Dorsey was appointed judge July 24, 1824, to fill the

vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Chief Judge Chase; E. F. Chambers was appointed judge August 7, 1834, to succeed Judge Earle, who resigned June 6, 1834; Associate Judge Ara Spence was appointed judge May 20, 1835, to succeed Judge Martin, deceased.^[1]
