Kinds of courts include the following:
A police court is the lowest level of court in many other common law jurisdictions. Examples include the Police Court (France) (Tribunal de police), the lowest level of court in France; the Police Court (Belgium) (Politierechtbank / Tribunal de police), the lowest level of court in Belgium; and the Magistrates' court (England and Wales), formerly known in larger towns as a police court, the lowest level of court in England and Wales.
A Court of Common Pleas is a common kind of court structure found in various common law jurisdictions. The form originated with the Court of Common Pleas in England, which was created to permit individual to press civil grievances against one another without involving the King.
