"Speed of Light" (Sixty Records EP 07R-03 and CD single 12D-1001; A&M dance maxi-single SP 12268) is a song originally composed for the Okinawan J-pop singer-songwriter Reimy by American singer-songwriter-actress Deborah Gibson and published by Creative Bloc Music, Ltd. and Deborah Ann's Music in 1987 (rights now administered by Music Sales Corporation (ASCAP)). Originally recorded for the soundtrack of the Nippon Television series a·ki·re·ta–DEKA (あきれた刑事, "The Exasperated Detective") (Atlantic Japan/Warner-Pioneer LP 32XD-901) and later included on the album SMOOTH TALK (Sixty Records LP #30D-1, originally released March 9, 1988 in Japan, reissued 1990 on Fun House Records as LP #WPCL-153), this track was produced and arranged by Trevor Veitch.

This track also appears on the A&M Records soundtrack album Arthur 2: On the Rocks (A&M LP/CS 3916).[1]

In 2005, the prototype of this song (as written and produced by Gibson) was released as a track on the Golden Egg compilation album Memory Lane, Volume 2.
