Appearance
Regarded as a megamusical, Les Misérables originated in Paris, France before spawning to West End and Broadway. It is the longest-running musical in the West End and the second longest-running musical in the world after the original Off-Broadway run of The Fantasticks.
The original West End production received 4 Laurence Olivier nominations; while the original Broadway production received 12 nominations, ultimately won 8, including Best Musical, Best Original Score, as well as Best Direction.
