Star Zone was an pan-Asian TV channel owned by Fox International Channels Asia Pacific. Unlike almost all international versions of Disney XD (which was only focused to boys), the channel was focused on both boys and girls. Also, it was an variation of the Jetix/Fox Kids and Toon Disney (after 2005, exception for Japan and India) channels worldwide.

History

Star Zone was launched on June 1st 1995.

Later, Fox Kids Europe (now Jetix Europe) holds 40% shares on Star Zone in 1996, following with the launch of the United Kingdom version of Fox Kids (now Disney XD, later defunct).

In 2008, with Disney acquiring Jetix Europe, the TV division of The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific acquired the remaining sale used by Jetix Europe back in 1996 for Star Zone, from this point, they started to air advertisements for other channels owned by Disney, including Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney.

On January 1st 2011, Star Zone relaunches preschool programming on weekdays. The block lasted till the closure of the channel.

After 17 years on air on September 1st 2012, Star Zone finally ceased broadcast, due to the launch of Disney XD in Malaysia on 15th September of this year. It was officially replaced with India Zone owned by Cuben Corp.

International carriage

Due to popular demand, Star Zone was also distributed in Japan and South Korea, even through the rest of the Star TV channels didn't have their own feeds there, and also in India until 2002 due to launch of the Fox Kids block on Star Plus.

Also in France and Spain, Star Zone is currently available in these countries, as this channel is still operating after the shutdown of the main channel by 2012.

Live-action (or somewhat sitcom) programming were mainly aired on weeknights at 10pm and weekends at 8pm from 1998 to 2003, also with some programming on daytime (which already added in 1996). The live-action programming at nighttime is discontinued due to Star Zone started to become an general entertainment/children's channel.
