About Student Police

As everyone knows, the world is getting more and more dangerous each and every year, especially in schools and on college campuses. With as many students that attend college, it is very obvious that the police departments on campus are highly outnumbered. However, with a force like the Clemson University Student police Department(CUSPD), it gives the police an extra hand and allows them to get some sort of a break. The best thing about the student police is that anyone can do it. There are no requirements except to have passed a background check.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the student police are very broad as their main focus is to take care of the areas that the main police department can not cover. These duties include, but are not limited to, securing the on campus apartments and dorm rooms, escorting various dignitaries, directing traffic, operate Tiger Transit . The student police has the responsibility to track down criminals or uncontrollable students and call in the real police for the arrest. The students are not allowed to arrest and also can not carry a gun.

Tiger Transit

Tiger transit is what many Clemson students refer to as the "drunk bus." This name for the bus is very ironic due to the fact that the police are not allowed to pick you up in the bus if you have signs of alcohol in your system. This transportation system will safely take you anywhere on campus between the hours of 6pm and 6am. The police runs this transportation system because they are responsible for the safety of everyone everywhere on campus.
