Owen Pereira is a young chef from Baltimore, Maryland, and the winner of the premier season of Top Chef Junior, a reality cooking competition show which begun airing on Universal Kids on September 9, 2017. Pereira then became the first winner of Top Chef Junior, and consequently won 50,000 dollars and the title of "Top Chef Junior".
Prior to his win on Top Chef, Owen auditioned and was chosen to compete on an episode of the Food Network's Chopped Junior. Losing early in the show, Pereira's performance caught the attention of Universal Kids, who invited him to audition for the first season of Top Chef Junior in Spring 2017. He stood out amongst 200 other kids and teens, and made it to a select group of 12 to compete for the title and prize money.
In March 2018, Pereira starred in a YouTube Video on the BuzzfeedVideo channel titled, "Kid Professional Chef Vs. Adult Chef", where he and an untrained adult faced off in a timed cooking competition. As of February 2019, the video has amassed over 10,000,000 views.
