I owned a 1991 Ford Taurus SHO (Super High Output) in Germany, land of the "Autobahn" highways.
I owned it Feb.2002 through May 2004 when it blew the engine (rod bearing failed, the rod put holes in the block.) It was an electric red "plus" that had been built in May 1991 and registered with US Army Europe plates in Oct 1991. The first owner sold it around 2000 and I bought it for $2000 from the second owner, with about 156,000 miles on it. I drove it to the Costa de Brava, Spain, and all over western Germany. Yes they will go as fast as the speedometers register- 140mph. My car had about 176,000 miles when it went "kaput" on Autobahn A6 going from Kaiserslautern to Mannheim, right at the bottom of the large hills coming into the Rhine/Neckar valley. (Doing about 100mph. :-) )
