For those of you who didn't know, the English language contains or contained at the time that the /usr/share/dict/words file on my computer was created the word "semiarborescent" which is my nominee for the most pointless word in the English language. Arborescent means treelike which is already pointless since we already have the word treelike, and I really don't think we need two different words to describe the state of being like a tree. Semiarborescent means kinda-sorta treelike. The only contexts I can even fathom such a word being useful is in describing postmodernists sculptures that happen to be non-phallic and describing flavors of wine that have the seductive quality of a wood nymph when sipped with a sufficiently stiff upper lip (in this case, it's the wood nymph being sipped, not the wine -- at least as near as I can tell by reading the label of some wine bottles).

On an unrelated note, wikipedia has an article on Reindeer hunting in Greenland.
