Who am I?
[edit]I go by the username Aurora Illumina here. This name is not my real name, though it is a pen name I go by in multiple places on the internet. Aurora is a word that can be linked to many things, such as the Northern Lights, in addition to also being a common name. "Illumina" is apparently the name of a company as well, though I originally based it off of the word "illuminate" (and I don't have any relation with the Illuminati).
Random fun fact - my account on Wikipedia was created on a Friday the 13th.
Activity on Wikipedia
[edit]For the most part, I simply make small contributions on some articles on classical music pieces, particularly the Beethoven Piano Sonatas. I was also interested in the userboxes, and have created a few of my own so far, with help from this page. These userboxes can be found in my subpages section.
I don't catch vandals very often, but those I do catch will feel the wrath of my laser (figuratively—my laser doesn't readily go through computer screens to reach the other side.)

Activity outside of Wikipedia
[edit]For the most part, the only notable thing I do outside of Wikipedia is composing music for the piano. I haven't taken any harmony lessons, and mostly have discovered patterns that "work" simply by experimentation. An example of something I have learned by experimentation is the resolution of a tritone, by moving both notes inwards or outwards by a semitone. I have written some short blurbs on analysis on my pieces; that page is in my Subpages section, and the page also contains links to the compositions. I sometimes have these bursts of creativity, where I make a short piece (usually 32 measures) in about ten minutes. (Note that these 32-measure pieces often end with a repeat sign labeled "ad infinitum".)
Some of the pieces I have made were simply made for listening to, as they weren't made to be physically possible. I have gradually shifted away from that, and started making more humanly-possible pieces. Most of my pieces are inspired by the Classical period, with occasional influences from the Baroque period and Romantic period.
In the cases where I like an existing piece enough, I'll make an arrangement for piano, and I usually do this by ear, unless I have access to the midi file. The most notable piece I've arranged alone by ear is probably Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I've also worked with midi files, such as the soundtrack of the game Lemmings, though I had to remove some parts from those because it's not very easy to play 3+ voices with only two hands. If I did include all voices, I may need to hire an octopus to play them.
