The Great Omni treasure hunt was a series of treasure hunts / promotions by the editors of Omni Magazine from 1986 to 1995.
History
[edit]The first hunt was announced in the February 1986 issue[1], with the winners published in the December 1987 issue.[2]
Hunts
[edit]- February 1995[8]
Clues
[edit]Seekers were asked to scrutinize details of images in an issue and note the page numbers where that image appeared, totaling them to a single number which was to be submitted by mail or by calling a toll-free phone number.
Prizes
[edit]The grand prize was a vehicle.
In the 1986 hunt, it was an AMC Jeep Wrangler.
In the 1992 hunt, it was a Geo Tracker LSi 4x4 Convertible.
Second prize was a smaller vehicle, like a motorcycle.
Others were a range of high-end electronics and consumer goods.
