[edit]My name is Athena Edwards. I am a junior this year. Some of my hobbies include painting, jewelry-making, and trying different makeup looks! I enjoy trying new art styles and different mediums within the creative scene. I tend to do a lot of glass painting when I find some free time. It takes a bit faster to finish than doing a full painting. Painting allows me to have a healthy stress coping mechanism that can also provide as a source of tranquility. People who do paint can benefit by improving their memory, along with helping with anxiety and depression. [1]
My Wikipedia Interests
[edit]If I continue to use Wikipedia this year, I hope to apply the learned content to pages that may not be accurate, or write some pages of my own. I think it would be a great way to exercise different writing and English skills. especially if I am able to be corrected by others. It could be a great learning resource. I am hoping to use this experience as a learning opportunity by exploring different viewpoints and opinions of other users on here. It may provide a great way to broaden my own understanding and knowledge.
Article Evaluation
[edit]I was originally searching for Keshi, a recently popular singer, but was still pretty small, but after I mistakenly pressed the wrong link I found a new article that piqued my interest. For this article evaluation, I visited the Keshi article on Wikipedia about a type of Japanese eraser. In this article I found three aspects worth commenting on, first of all, the article has no cited references. Next, the article has multiple language translations, but they have not been proving to be correct. Lastly, the article over-represents the many different types of figures these erasers can be painted to look like.
Cited References
[edit]In the article I found one of the first things I recognized was the notice at the top of the article. above the text of the article was a notice that read "This article does not cite any sources."[2]. Upon further investigation I found that the article of which had many claims that would need references to be correct, did in fact have no references for the reader to fact check from.
Writing Errors
[edit]Along with the notice of the article having no cited references, the notice also warned about the translations the page contained. I had seen multiple articles already that had contained translations in their writing, but this one was the only one I saw who had been flagged to had contained "literal translations"[3] in the content. Since there are no cited references for where the translations may have came from, there is no way to tell whether or not they are correct.
Over-Representation
[edit]The article spends way too long of a time discussing the different character figures people have made or can make out of the erasers. In total it gives a list of 63 various characters, movies,and shows that have keshis that can be collected. Of which again, cannot be confirmed because of he lack of cited references listed for the article.
Summary
[edit]To conclude, In my opinion, I don't think this page is fitting at all. It's overall lack of information, references, and the abundance of unnecessary information makes it seem very inadequate as an informational page. It contains little useful information and can be difficult to follow.
