Niels Nielsen Alling (1861-1955) was a Danish-American sculptor, who specialized in terra-cotta figures. He immigrated from Randers, Denmark in 1887 to the United States, where he joined the Danish-American community in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He worked for the Perth Amboy Terra Cotta Company, and later opened his own workshop, creating monuments and grave markers. He is most well-known for a full-sized statue of George Washington, located in Market Square in Perth Amboy. He sculpted the statue in 1896, and it was presented to the city by the Danish and Scandinavian people who lived there.
