Kedarnath is a town in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and has gained importance because of Kedarnath Temple. It is a nagar panchayat in Rudraprayag district. The most remote of the four Chota Char Dham sites, Kedarnath is located in the Himalayas, about 3,583 m (11,755 ft) above sea level near Chorabari Glacier, the head of river Mandakini, and is flanked by snow-capped peaks, most prominently Kedarnath mountain. The nearest road head is at Gaurikund.

History

ఆరు నెలల తర్వాత తెరుచుకున్న కేదర్‌నాథ్‌ ఆలయం

ఉత్తరాఖండ్‌లోని కేదరనాథ్‌ జ్యోతిర్లింగ క్షేత్రంలో పూజలు ప్రారంభమయ్యాయి. ఆరు నెలల తర్వాత ఆలయ ద్వారాలు తెరుచుకున్నాయి. శాస్త్రోక్తంగా పూజలు నిర్వహించి గురువారం (09–05–2019) తెల్లవారుజామున ఆలయ ప్రధాన ద్వారాలను తెరిచారు. ప్రకృతి విపత్తు కారణంగా 86 రోజుల అనంతరం 24 మంది పురోహితుల బృందం ఆలయ కమిటీ సమక్షంలో పూజలు ప్రారంభించింది. కేదరానాథ్‌–బద్రీనాథ్‌ కమిటీ, అధికారుల పర్యవేక్షణలో ఇందుకు సంబంధించిన ఏర్పాట్లన్నీ పూర్తి చేసింది. దీంతో కేదారేశ్వరుని దర్శనానికి భక్తులు భారీగా తరలివస్తున్నారు. దీంతో భక్తులకు అవసరమయ్యే అన్ని ఏర్పాట్లను పూర్తి చేశారు అధికారులు.

కేదరానాథ్‌లో ఉన్న శివాలయం దాదాపు 5100 ఏళ్లనాటి పురాతన ఆలయం. సముద్ర మట్టానికి 11,755 అడుగుల ఎత్తులో ఉంటుంది ఈ ప్రాంతం. అత్యంత పురాతన ఆలయమైన కేదర్‌నాథ్‌ యాత్రకు ప్రతీఏటా లక్షలమంది భక్తులు తరలివస్తుంటారు. దేశం నలుమూలల నుంచి చార్‌ ధామ్‌ యాత్రలో భాగంగా కేదర్‌నాథ్‌కు భక్తులు పెద్దఎత్తున వస్తుంటారు. దీంతో భక్తులకు అవసరమైన అన్ని వసతుల్ని ఏర్పాటు చేసింది ఉత్తరాఖండ్‌ ప్రభుత్వం. మంచినీటి వసతి, విద్యుత్‌ సౌకర్యాలను ఇప్పటికే సమకూర్చింది. అక్షయ తృతియ సందర్భంగా చార్‌దామ్‌ యాత్ర ప్రారంభమైన రోజే గంగోత్రి, యమునోత్రి ద్వారాలు కూడా తెరచుకోగా.. శుక్రవారం బద్రీనాథ్‌ ఆలయ ప్రధాన ద్వారాలు తెరచుకోనున్నాయి. చార్‌ ధామ్‌ యాత్ర చేస్తే ఎంతో పుణ్యం వస్తుందనే విశ్వాసం భక్తుల్లో ఉంది. దీంతో, ఏటా కొన్ని లక్షల మంది భక్తులు ఈ యాత్ర చేస్తుంటారు.

మరోవైపు శుక్రవారం నుంచి బద్రినాథ్‌ ఆలయ ద్వారాలు కూడా తెరుచుకోనున్నాయి. ప్రతిఏటా శీతాకాలంలో బద్రీనాథ్‌ ఆలయాన్ని మూసివేస్తుంటారు. ప్రతికూల వాతావరణం వల్లే ఇలా చేయడం ఆనవాయితీ అని కమిటీ వెల్లడించింది. హిందువుల పుణ్యక్షేత్రమైన బద్రీనాథ్‌ దేశంలో ఉత్తరాఖండ్‌లోని చమోలి జిల్లాలో ఉంది. చార్‌ ధామ్‌ యాత్ర హిందువుల ముఖ్యమైన యాత్ర. ఇందులో భాగంగానే భక్తులు బద్రీనాథ్‌ను దర్శించుకుంటారు. బద్రీనాథ్‌ గర్హా్వల్‌ కొండలలో అలకనందానదీ తీరంలో 3,133 మీటర్ల ఎత్తులో ఉంది. నర నారాయణ కొండల వరసల మధ్య నీలఖంఠ(6,560 మీటర్లు) శిఖరానికి దిగువభాగంలో ఉంది. ఋషికేశ్‌కు ఉత్తరంలో 301 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో బద్రీనాథ్‌ ఉంది.
