The Life of Joachim Pick a German Artist Living in Frankfurt == Joachim Pick -The Stained Glass Windows he created in Frankfurt during his lifetime.
I have started this page in the hope that other people who knew Joachim can add information about his life and work.
The first time I met him was through my family as we had a villa near San Gimignano in a hamlet called Monti. Monti actually lies on the old Pilgrimage trail called Via Francigena. He had converted an old chapel over many years which was originally the school for Monti but contained a Quattrocento painting by Pier Francesco Fiorentino of the Madonna and child. This eventually was moved to the museum in San Gimignano through his sheer persistence. He was generous with his knowledge and his friendships and as I grew up and visited my parents villa every summer I got to have great chats about arts and culture with Joachim. He had a studio around the back of the chapel where he worked on woodcut prints which were in a similar style to the grand stained glass windows he created for the churches of Frankfurt.
I have found very little information about his life so far apart from that he was a long time head for the Dommuseum (cathedral museum)-https://parish-frankfurt.de/beitrag/a-short-history-of-our-parish/. In the link there is a Print that he gave as a gift for the establishment of St. Leonhard's International English-Speaking Parish. I
welcome anyone who could contribute to his life and works to add to this page.
I have found two other links which show some of his stained glass windows- The first link is a memorial of his death in 2012 which included examples of his work. https://archive.st-johannes-ap.de/2013/memorial-ausstellung-mit-werken-von-joachim-pick/
The second link shows a piece of his work from an Biblical extract "In Luke 10:30-35, Jesus gives a teacher of the law an example of true love of God and neighbor. Artists have often depicted this story. https://www.mariaehimmelfahrt-ffm.de/kirchenfenster-inmariae-himmelfahrt-eine-chronik/
Recently I found a beautiful example of Joachim's Windows from 1961 at the Church of The Frauenkirche. Architect: Hans Herkommer (1887-1956), built in 1927-29
