My Background
[edit]I am an artist, art historian, curator, and educator. My specific interests within the field of art include the integration of contemporary art within educational environments and interdisciplinary curricula. I have a Master's in Art History as well as K-12 Art Education. I enjoy a variety of artistic styles and disciplines, but I am most focused around art that is collaborative and socially engaged. I also have been a leading scholar and curator of American Figurative Expressionist art, especially art from Provincetown, MA and New York City during the mid to late 1950s and early 1960s. As an art educator, I am drawn to the theories and methodologies of John Dewey, Paulo Freire, bell hooks, and Viktor Lowenfeld.
