Delhi Waveriders is an Indian field hockey franchise team based in Delhi. The club participates in the Hockey India League, India's top hockey league. The team was one of the five original teams of the Hockey India League during its first season in 2013 in which the Waveriders finished as runners-up.[2] The team is currently owned by Wave Group, who bought the franchise on 17 September 2012.[1]
History

[edit]In 2012, it was announced that Hockey India would begin a new franchise field hockey league known as the Hockey India League which would be ran along the lines of the Indian Premier League cricket tournament.[3] Then on 17 September 2012 it was revealed that Ponty Chadha led-Wave Group had bought the Delhi franchise for the Hockey India League.[1]
