Article Evaluation
[edit]Jimmy Wales
[edit]The article does contain everything relevant to the topic itself. It describes what Wales accomplished since his young age. It's in chronological order. The article does seem neutral to me. As much as they share the achievements of this guy, they also share some controversies. It did seem a bit admiring towards him overall. I don't think there is any particular viewpoint that is being overrepresented. my only thought regarding this is that maybe there is a bit more controversy regarding the credibility of the site and the acceptance rate, and that should've been mentioned in relation to Wales. Most of the links work for the citation, i did found a couple that lead me to a 404 Error not found. The sources do support the claim of the article in general. The information is a combination of books and articles and some news articles regarding Wales. They are in that particular sense a bit non-credible in my perspective and thus have bias. The rating of this article is Former Good Article Nominee. It doesn't follow the biography rules of writing in Wikipedia. It has been part of several Wikiprojects, such as Wikipedia, Chicago, and Internet culture. There were a lot of external links that were modified last year.
Literature Review
[edit]The article mostly contains relevant info regarding the topic. I did not find any information that didn't truly relate to literature review. The article does not go in depth of what it is and how it's adapted to the world. In my perspective it is most certainly underrepresented by all standards. There were a total of 8 references and very few general citations. Thus it is not a credible source of information. They are a combination of books and journals. The topic is represented in neutrality and it doesn't have any particular emphasis on one aspect. The talk page shows that there is barely and discussions going on about this article. The few editors that actually worked on the article mentioned the under representation of several aspects of the topic. incomplete information was edited out of the article. There are no rating present for the article and it is not part of any Wikiprojects. Overall, this would be considered a content-gap and incomplete article.
Changes to Karbala, Iraq Article
[edit]I am thinking of adding a bit more information regarding the education system of Hawas. They are widely known. It also hosts one of the largest peaceful gathering of the world i think that should be mentioned. There are some sources that are missing, and i am planning on finding those. So far these are all of the changes that i am planning to to do.
University[edit]
[edit]Hawza are the islamic education institutions that are run collectively by mujtahid or Allamas to teach Shia muslims and guide them through the rigorous journey of becoming and Alim. In terms of the hawaz in Karbala, After the death of a renowned Alama, the Sayyid Muhammad, the leadership in terms of teacher shifted to taqlid to mujtahid. This was a significant factor that lead to the leadership of Ulama to reside in Karbala and as well as Najaf. Initially Karbala's hawza(islamic education institution) consisted mostly of Iranians and Turkish Ulama. After the death of Sharif-ul-Ulama Mazandarani in 1830 and the repression of the shia population by the Ottomans in 1843 both played an important role in the relocation of many Ulamas and thus Najaf becoming the center of Shia islamic leadership in education[1].
As of now, there are two universities in Karbala. University of Karbala, which was inaugurated on March 1st, 2002, is one of the top most universities in Iraq regarding academic administration, human resources, and scientific research[2]. The Ahlulbait International University was founded in September of 2003 by Dr. Mohsen Saleh Mohammed Baqir al-Qazwini. The university has three major focuses: Faculty of Law, Arts, and Islamic Law. Other majors of education such as medicine, agriculture, informatics etc are still in the developing stages.[3]
