Quota Movement, Bangladesh 🇧🇩-2024
Bangladesh is an Independent country. It is situated in South Asia. Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan before 1971. Bangladesh used to be a part of Pakistan. After the liberation war, Bangladesh became an Independent country.
What is "Quota"?
Those who took part in the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971, are known as "freedom fighters". After victory the government of Bangladesh made a quota system which was for the freedom fighters only. After some years, this rule changed and the childrens of freedom fighters also got the opportunity to get quota; after that also grandchildrens got the opportunity to use quota. Basically quota is a thing that allows a student to get extra mark advantage in admissions or in job sectors. In Bangladesh, the reserved seats for quota is 56% and only 44% for the talented students. The 56% of quota is also divided, 30% for the freedom fighters and 26% for women, autistic etc.
The beginning✊
This quota movement is not a recent protest, this protest started on 2013; The first phrase started from 6 June-18 July 2013; Second phrase started from 17 February-18 July 2018 and the third phrase started from 1 July 2024 and it’s still going on.
Contribution!
Since this quota movement started, many intellectuals lost their lives as their information against the quota system and government would crack the international rules! Students from Bangladesh University Of Engineering Technology(BUET), Dhaka University(DU) moreover many other students of other universities lost their lives. Basically student politics is very common in Bangladesh. Present government, Awami league is the ruling party from last 15 years and they have two small parts of them. One is known as "Jubo League"(Youth League) and another is "Chatro League"(Student League). Both of them were in powerful form in last 15 years. But none of them were helpful to the nation’s civilians and students. Students in BUET and DU who were actually the real gems of country were killed by "Chatro League"(Student League). Awami League is the onyl government in Bangladesh that always cheated in politics! They used their power and remained the ruling government from last 15 years. They were mostly concern about the students who got to knew about their dirty moves and after finding the students Awami league killed them by "Chatro League"(Student League). Abrar Fahad, one of the brightest student of the country, student of Bangladesh University Of Engineering Technology(BUET) was killed by "Chatro League"(Student League) as they got to that Abrar Fahad got some info which would barely get the government fall down and politicians would be behind bars. They killed him by giving an excuse, they said that Abrar Fahad was a "Rajakar"(Traitor) and he worked for other parties of Bangladesh.
Quota reform movement,2024!
Students in Bangladesh were really tired of this quota system as the chances for talented students are very less than quota. Students started talking about this and they came on field to protest, all was going well it was a peaceful protest. But day after day the government officials ordered Bangladesh Police, RAB, DB, BGB and Army to attack on the students. As per international rules, everyone has right to protest for their right. Bangladesh Police started open fire on students, they attacked them in many ways, they started throwing tear shell on students. They killed a lot of innocent students who were only protesting for their right. More than 2000++ students were killed, this was about to became an international news but the government started shutdown, they jammed all the social media and networks. The United Nations warned Bangladesh Government many times but they didn’t stop killing students. Police gave protection to "Chatro League"(Student League) who were killing students heartleassly. They used many sharp weapons, customised weapons and etc. They also didn’t leave girls, they started throwing acid on girls, they raped girls and tortured them a lot! More than 10000 were injured during this protest. But it’s really shameful that the prime minister of Bangladesh didn’t even try to stop all this. She’s the one who eventually started this. In a press conference she said; So, Rajakar’s(Traitor’s) are more talented than the children and grandchildrens of freedom fighters? She eventually said that the every single student who didn’t got chance in a government university, is a Rajakar(Traitor). Students got really made on it then they decided to protest. After killing students, she came live on TV wearing a black saree as a symbol of mourn, she gave speech that she will do justice while she was the one did all this. She didn’t even cry for one single student, on the other hand she was crying while looking at the broken mirror of Mirpur-10 Metro station which was attacked. After that she came live on TV and said that she’ll give money and help to the people who’s children’s were killed in protest. Every single government official’s deny that the Police,RAB,BGB and etc. killed students. There are videos of them killing students openly and still they directly deny that they didn’t kill any students. In a statement they declared that they were only helping the students. In this situation, most of the influential’s of Bangladesh didn’t even said a word against this. On the other side those who were hated students, are the one who stood with them in the protest. Influentials of other countries played and kind role in supporting student. Moreover in a statement, Prime minister of Bangladesh declared that her father made this country free so she has the right to do anything. In this protest many civilians, who were completely out of this were also killed, childrens were also killed while they were playing in their roof or corridors! The officers were worse than Bastard, they killed the innocents.
