At 5 I started taking piano lessons because I wanted to do them on my own. I took piano lessons for about 10 years and then eventually quit. I entered jr. high and started to learn violin. I currently play violin and got into Berklee playing the instrument. This is my 10th year playing violin, and although I don’t have lessons anymore I still love playing and continue to do so. While I was playing violin in jr. high I picked up guitar on my own, just enough to learn basic chords and get me through some songs. I still play guitar as well, and about 2 years ago I learned how to play bass as I took a bass lab here at Berklee. I love playing bass and continue that as well. As of now my principle is violin, and currently trying to be just as good on my mandolin. My family has influenced me so much. My dad plays guitar and sings. He had a band when he was younger, and has a band even now. My mom picked up bass and is really good at it, which is where I got my love for playing bass. My brothers, aunts and uncles are also musical. However, I’m very interested in the business side of music, and started doing street teaming and marketing for bands when I was in the 6th grade and continue to do so. From there on I knew I wanted to be on the business end of the music industry. I currently work as a talent buyer booking shows at a venue, I’m the vice president of the music business club, I work with the student run record label Heavy Rotation Records, I’m the manager for a Berklee/Tufts band, and now training to be a DJ on the Berklee radio the BIRN.
That being said I do not write music at all, and don’t play as much as I used to, even though I do like to fool around and play along to songs I like, it’s not like when I took lessons and practiced for hours a week perfecting techniques. My music to me means literally the music that I like to listen to which consist of the genres of pop, electronic, rock, alternative, indie, and country/folk. However, not only is my music the music that I like to listen to, but the music I like to support.
