Segio Rapu Haoa is an archeaologist and was the governor of Easter Island from 1984 to 1990[1], and the first native Rapa Nui to hold the post since the island's annexation by Chile in 1888. He is the father of Sergio Mata'u Rapu, a Rapa Nui filmmaker[2]. He has worked extensively with Carl Lipo and Terry Hunt[3].
Biography
[edit]Haoa was born in 1949. He received an education in archaeology in the United States[4]. He continues to work in archaeology[5]. He also owns a hotel on the island[4].
