Kronstadposten is a weekly newspaper that publishes news local to the Kronstad area of Alta, Norway. Its first issue was released in 2010 by Tom Erik Nilsen when he was eleven years old.
History
[edit]The first issue of Kronstadposten was released on 30 April 2010 by Tom Erik Nilsen[1] when he was 11 years old.[2] It was printed without colour on an A4 paper.[3] During the newspaper's first year, its circulation was between 20 and 30 copies.[4] Kronstadposten started as a hobby project between him and some friends.[5] He initially sold it to only his neighbours,[6]: 16 but by May 2011, he had reached a distribution agreement with the local Stigs Bud after the amount of subscriptions exceeded their capacity.[1] Nilsen stated that most of the subscribers lived in Kronstad, but also claimed that they delivered elsewhere, including abroad.[7]
In 2021, Kronstadposten applied for Sámi press subsidies from the Norwegian Media Authority to produce extra pages in Northern Sámi. This was rejected because they were not "within guidelines".[8]
