Early years
[edit]Ancestry
[edit]Ara Abgaryan was born in Armenian in 1973 to Armenian parents: father Abgaryan Vanik and mother Abgaryan Susanna. Ara was born and grew up in a picturesque city Kirovakan (currently Vanadzor). His native city is an urban municipal community and the third-largest city in Armenia serving as the capital of Lori Province in the northern part of the country.
He showed interest in painting and design since early age and was directed by his mother in his creative endeavours. He visited painting lessons from the age of 8 and continued until death of his mother, when he was just 15 years old. Later on, as the destructive earthquake stroke Armenia in 1988, most of Ara's native city buildings were destroyed, including his own house. This was the turning point for the young boy - he decided to become an architect to rebuild the house for himself and his grieving father.
Education
[edit]Ara Abgaryan graduated from Yerevan State University of Architecture and Design in 1997, holding a diploma of Architect Urbanist. In 2011 his diploma of Architect was recognised in France and eventually in 2013 he achieved a validation of his diploma in Czech Republic by Czech Technical University in Prague (czech: České vysoké učení technické v Praze) with Bachelors degree in Architecture and Urbanism (czech equivalent Ing. arch. ).
Career
[edit]Soon after graduation he moved to Russia, upon an invitation to work in then-large architectural studio in Taganrog. Soon after that he moved to open his own studio Arach Architects, where he worked and created more than hundred buildings and projects.
Abgaryan became known soon with his creativity and ambitions to create a living space, that is not only functional and well-designed but also beautiful.
He was also among the first Architects who showed interest in Passive house (German: Passivhaus). Passive house is a standard for energy efficiency in a building, reducing its ecological footprint which results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling. The first building he designed and created based on the passive house technology was in 2001.
Currently
[edit]Nowadays Abgaryan resides and works in Prague, Czech Republic and actively promotes the concept of ultra-low energy building technologies.
