Linda Avey

Linda Avey is a renounce American Biologist and Entrepreneur, responsible for the creation and development of multiple companies based in the United States. Her work has focused mainly on the services of genetic information and medical advancement.

Early Years

Born in 1960, in South Dakota, United States. Linda Avey received a Bachelors of Science in the field of Biology, from Augustana University in 1982 . Prior to her professional career in the fields of marketing and entrepreneurship, Linda Avey in collaboration with Affymetrix and Perlegen Sciences conducted multiple translational research projects, which mainly focused on genetic variations. This research was meant to provide corporations with new information and new techniques, in order to benefit the decision-making process and patient treatments of their customers .

In April 1999, Linda Avey began her professional career when she became a Sales Executive at the Chamber Corporation. For a period of 20 years, she continued her path in the fields of sales and business development in the field of biopharmaceuticals . During this time Linda in partnership with Spotfire also conducted research related to data visualization and applied biosystems during the early days of the human genotype project. .

Recent Career

In March 2006, in conjunction with Anne Wojcicki and Paul Cusenza, Linda Avey became the co-founder of the world's first personal genetics service company, 23andMe. After being part of the 23andMe Corporation for more than 4 years, in September 2009 Linda stepped down as co-owner and began numerous foundations corporations.

The Brainstorm Research Foundation was the first foundation under the leadership of Lauren after her departure from 23andMe . This foundation has focused its efforts on accelerating research for the Alzheimer's disease, and gain a deeper understanding of how genetic modifications and enhancements can prevent or alleviate the characteristics of this disease. Linda Avey has also utilized her company and awareness campaigns to encourage the scientific community to bring more efforts into the research for this disease, and also to create awareness amongst the general population by encouraging early gene-testing to recognize and prepare for this disease and probably early treatments.

In 2011, Linda Avey became the founder of Precise.Ly, Inc. This corporation became the first in the world to provide a platform in which individuals suffering from Fatigue Syndrom (more commonly known as MA/CFS) could track their diets, symptoms, medical treatments, etc. For the past decade since the development of this company, Linda Avey has mainly focused on the development of this an many other projects altogether.
