Aldar-Kose (Kazakh: Aldar KөseAldar Kөse) is a fictional folk character of Kazakh fairy tales, the hero of short humorous and satirical miniatures and anecdotes.

[edit]There are many popular tales and jokes about Aldar-Kose. The son of a poor man, kind and resourceful and intelligent
deceives and punishes the greedy rich, lazy, fools and even devils. Associated with the Kazakh Robin Hood, but his weapon is not a bow and arrows, but the mind and the word. Figures also in folklore of Turkmen, Uzbeks and Tatars.

[edit]Translated into Russian, the nickname Aldar-Kose means “Beard-free deceiver”: “Aldar” - deceiver, rogue, wit, “Spit” - bezborody.
