The Newcastle Independents is a group of independent political candidates based in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. The Newcastle Independents first stood for election as a group in the 2017 Local Government Election.
The Newcastle Independents is not a political party, but a group of individual candidates. The Newcastle Independents intend to stand candidates in each Ward for the 2021 Local Government Elections in the Local Government Area of Newcastle. They also intend to stand John Church as their Lord Mayoral candidate. The 2021 Local Government Elections are scheduled for Saturday 4 December 2021. The Newcastle Independents have announced a number of policies, such as a freeze on Council rates, fixing Lambton pool and flood mitigation works in Wallsend.
Candidates: John Church, PJ Fallon, Dave Wild, Kath Elliott
Electoral Performance In the 2017 Local Government Election, four Newcastle Independents candidates were elected to serve as Councillors on [City Council]. John Church (Ward 1), Kath Elliott (Ward 2), Andrea Rufo (Ward 3) and Allan Robinson (Ward 4) were elected. Kath Elliott was the Newcastle Independents candidate for Lord Mayor, and was unsucessful.
