MAIHAR ROPEWAY
[edit]Maihar is a proposed district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Maihar is known for the temple of the revered mother goddess Maa Sharda situated on Trikuta hill. Maihar is in Satna district.
Tourist Attraction
[edit]Maihar is known for the Maa Sharda Devi temple (around 502 A.D.), situated at the top of Trikuta hill which is around 5 km from the railway station.
Popular as the abode of Maa Sharda Devi, Maihar is an important Shakti Peeth. According to mythology, it is believed that the necklace of Goddess Parvati had fallen at this very spot. Maa Sharda Temple is a very famous tourist spot as there is a huge footfall of devotees, locals and foreigners who visit it quite frequently to offer their prayers especially during Navratri. For convenience of the pilgrims Damodar Ropeways & Infra Ltd., (DRIL) has constructed a cable car that transports pilgrims to the top of the hill, transcending the 1200 steep step climb. Being a prime destination for the pilgrimage in Madhya Pradesh, Maihar Ropeway is a big draw. The average annual footfall at Maihar Ropeway is approximately 5 lakhs. The pilgrims also get an exposure to the natural scenic beauty while taking a ride on the ropeway. The ropeway ride facilitates the aged population and disabled people to reach the destination without any difficulty. The Ropeway ride lasts for about 15 minutes. A round trip ticket for an adult costs INR 130/- and that of a child is INR 83/- as on 1st July 2021.

All DRIL personnel are trained to take special care of passengers especially the visitors who are differently abled, the aged and pregnant women. Amenities such as drinking water, cafeterias, toilets, wheelchair are also available near the site. Cleanliness standards and Covid Protocols are strictly adhered to.

DRIL has pioneered safety systems in India and have introduced a process of rope x-rays back in 1995. The Maihar Ropeway uses state of the art technology as per BIS and also follows European norms related to the safety of passengers.
