[edit]The Department of Justice and Attorney-General was established following administrative change after a change of State Government in September 1992.[1]

Abolition
[edit]The Department was abolished in 1996 and its functions transferred to the newly created Department of Justice.[1]

[edit]- The Department was responsible for the functions and activities undertaken by its predecessor, the Department of Justice Department, with the exception of those functions transferred to the new Department of Consumer Affairs. The Department received the functions of the former Arts Division of the Department of Premier, Economic and Trade Development. The Registrar-General's Office and the Fair Trading and Consumer Affairs Division of the former Department of Justice (disambiguation) were transferred to the Department of Consumer Affairs.
