Skanderbeg's military skills
[edit]"Skanderbeg's military skills.... presented a major obstacle to Ottoman expansion"
Skanderbeg's military skills in war against Ottoman Empire are praised all trough this article and many other articles connected with Skanderbeg.
Problem is that there are no informations that are supporting this glorifying praises. On the contrary, there are informations that makes those glorifying praises absurd.
Skanderbeg:
- FAILED to capture towns under Venetian control: Ulcinj, Durres, Lezhe and Shkodra after he started war against Venice.
- FAILED to control his own men who were killing each other and fought each other (Lekë Dukagjini, ambushed and killed Lekë Zaharia Altisferi, they were fighting with Skanderbeg until pope made them signing peace trety)
- LOST Dagnum to Venice
- LOST Balsha fortress to Venice
- LOST Svetigrad to Ottoman Empire
- FAILED to recapture Svetigrad
- LOST Berat to Ottoman Empire
- FAILED to recapture Berat
- FAILED to participate on Second Battle of Kosovo
- FAILED to control his own people and one of them sold Modric fortress to Ottoman Empire
- FAILED to control his own people with many of them defecting to Ottoman Empire army
- FAILED to regain control over lost cities and instead fighting all around Europe, even making invasions to Macedonia without successful capturing of any city
- FAILED to prevent building of Ottoman fortress Elbassan inside Albania (toponym)
- FAILED to capture Elbasan in the spring of 1467. His unsucessful siege of Elbasan brought Ottoman sultan to Albania and resulted with immense destruction of Albania and its population
Instead he sent his men to Italy, Sicily and all over the Europe to fight for Kingdom of Naples, even planing to lead crusade to Constantinople and Jerusalem.
