Changes of meaning to Wikipedia medical articles must cite appropriate written sources, such as general or systematic reviews in reliable, third-party publications like medical journals, textbooks by recognized experts, or medical guidelines and position statements from reputable expert bodies.
Content not accompanied by an inline "citation" (a footnote marker like this[14] linked to specified pages in a journal, textbook, etc.) that supports it, may be deleted.
Manual citation
Copy the style of other references in the article and type your reference between <ref> and </ref>. When you save your work, the footnote marker[14] will appear in the text where you typed the above, and the full reference will appear at the bottom of the article in the list of references.
Automated citation
To cite a textbook, find the book in Google Books. Using the "search in this book" field, find the text you are citing. Copy the URL at that page into here, and paste the result into your text.
To cite an article, enter its doi into your text between <ref>{{Cite doi| and }}</ref>, or its PMID between <ref>{{Cite pmid| and }}</ref> and the citation will be created a few minutes after you save your edit. (To get an article's PMID, search for its title here, and the PMID will appear below the article's abstract. Search the source article, or this webpage to find a doi.)
