About Me

[edit]

Hi, I am a high school student who is doing Running Start in the United States. I personally love football and have been playing the sport since I was five years old. My favorite book series is the Percy Jackson series just because it is filled with a lot of action and I am super into Greek mythology, I think it's a super cool topic to right and read about. In Greek mythology, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades were the three main gods.[1]

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

I have just started using Wikipedia because it is assigned in my English class I am taking right now. But I am happy that I have finally taken the step of creating a Wikipedia account. It looks interesting and has a great format for learning new things. If I end up working on Wikipedia long term I hope to be a positive influence on everyone around me and help people learn new things that they didn't know before Wikipedia.

Article Evaluation

[edit]

I have always thought that the Harpoon was an interesting name to give an object. I have always wanted to look into what it is and want to find some good information on it from Wikipedia. So, with that in mind, I visited the Harpoon page on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: citations, the completeness & structure, and the grammar/voice of this article.

Citations

[edit]

I would say that there are a lot of citations on this article. It has quite a bit of facts and many cited sources listed to back up statements of what a Harpoon is. I have looked at some of the internal and external links that are sourced, and they look somewhat reliable and unbiased. The sources I have checked out seem to be current and still up to date but there is only one external link and the rest are sourced to other Wikipedia cites internally, no websites are inactive.

Completeness & Structure

[edit]

In this article the amount of information covered on the Harpoon was a good amount for someone who is interested in finding out what a Harpoon is and how it was used in different time frames. I think the article represented the Harpoon being used as a tool for hunting really well. Then mentioned how it's been used as a weapon in the beginning of the section, then never spoke about it again. That certain topic was definitely understated by a lot but otherwise everything was properly stated in this article.

Grammar & Voice

[edit]

The topics and information in this article was unbiased and beneficial for someone looking for facts concerning the Harpoon. All the grammar seems to be correct and very professional; nothing seems to be incorrectly formatted. The tone is very formal and super informative. While still being a very interesting article.

Summary

[edit]

Overall, I would recommend this article. Especially for people who are interested in finding out what a Harpoon is and how it has been used through different time periods. The information has a lot of sources that great. For the most part they look reliable and unbiased.
