Association for Reinventing School Education

Overview

[edit]

The Association for Reinventing School Education (ARISE), previously known as FICCI ARISE (Alliance for Re-imagining School Education), is an autonomous body that unites some of India’s leading educators, school promoters, and thought leaders in an effort to transform the country's K-12 education system. Initially established under the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in 2016, ARISE became independent in 2024[1], symbolizing a strengthened commitment to education reform. The organization operates under the guiding motto "Student First" and brings together stakeholders from private, public, and government schools, focusing on policy advocacy, research, and community building within the education sector.

History and Founding

[edit]

ARISE was initially founded in 2016 by a coalition of prominent school leaders and educationists under FICCI. Known then as FICCI ARISE, it was formed to unify voices within the education sector and drive impactful regulatory reforms at both state and central levels. FICCI provided foundational support, and over seven years, the alliance made significant contributions to policy developments, particularly in areas of child safety, school accreditation, and educational quality standards.

In 2023, FICCI ARISE transitioned into an independent entity, adopting the new name ARISE (Association for Reinventing School Education), while retaining its collaborative relationship with FICCI. [Cite sources here]

Preamble and Organizational Values

[edit]

ARISE is driven by a shared vision for reinventing school education in India. Recognizing the significance of education in shaping society, ARISE and its members strive to empower educators, parents, and students by upholding principles of integrity, transparency, and mutual respect. Through its research and advocacy initiatives, ARISE seeks to influence policies that benefit students at all levels and create a platform for continual learning and development among educators.

The organization’s governing structure includes a Governing Body (GB) and a Secretariat, which oversee adherence to its founding principles and guide collaborative efforts. Additionally, ARISE’s bye-laws—reviewed and ratified by its Company Board (CB)—help maintain alignment with its core values and mission as the organization adapts to evolving educational needs.
