Shiite Islam

     The Shiite Muslims are known to believe that Ali, Muhammad’s descendant, is the true heir to Muhammad’s holy site. The Sunni and the Shiite fought a war over this issue, and the Shiite eventually lost. Shiites believe an “imam” or spiritual leader is the source of all knowledge. They were supposed to be appointed by Allah himself, and never commit sins and are infallible. Current Shiite religious practices center over Ali’s son, Hussein.
