Jacomo Hakim (born August 15, 1989) is a Persian Jewish entrepreneur. In 2012, Jacomo launched BookATailor[1].

Early Life & Education

[edit]

Jacomo, the son of Fred and Dalia Hakim, was born and raised in Great Neck, New York and is the middle child of three. His father is the CEO of DalCom Telecommunications [2] and his mother is a stay-at-home wife. While in Great Neck, Jacomo entered North Shore Hebrew Academy.

Career

[edit]

DJ

[edit]

Prior to launching GEMMA Suits in 2010, Hakim’s interest in DJing [3] quickly budded into a full-time hobby. Jacomo purchased a DJ set for his 16th birthday and at 17 he found himself transitioning from the dance floor to the DJ booth. During his college tenure, Jacomo was a DJ for New York nightclubs (i.e. 1OAK)[4] . Hakim’s parents’ desire for him to actively pursue a career in business compelled him to trade his laptop for a business suit.

Entrepreneur

[edit]

In 2010, Jacomo founded GEMMA Suits. During his time with GEMMA, where he sold suiting fabric to mom and pop custom suit tailors, he realized that there were a few issues, which eventually discouraged him. Jacomo then partnered with his father [5] in order to solve three major issues within the custom clothing industry: bad communication due to language barriers, long order fulfillment turnaround and lack of accessibility due to high price points.

BookATailor

[edit]

In order to speed up the garment production, Fred Hakim invested into a facility in Bangkok [6], which is responsible for fulfilling orders. In 2012, Jacomo launched BookATailer and through vertical integration, the brand was able to become more accessible and efficient.

Today, the brand has a total of 12 locations throughout the United States, seven of which are franchises and four remain corporately owned. [7]

Clients

[edit]

Some of Jacamo’s clients includes White House staff [8], Fox & Friends, CNN, Russell Simmons, Bill Goldberg, Travis Kelce, Alec Monopoly and a host of others.
