Andrea Tejeda (born February 24, 1999) is an American artist and student based in Anaheim, California. Her practice is dedicated to traditional paintings about Mexican and American culture. Tejeda has received her associate’s in Studio Art from Santa Ana College and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s in Art Education from California State Fullerton. She achieved first place in Digital Art at Santa Ana Colleges’ 2020 Art competition. In addition to that, she was awarded a scholarship from California State University of Fullerton’s Art department.

Early Life

Andrea Tejeda was born February 24 1999 in California along with her twin sister Aurora Tejeda. She has an older brother named Armando Tejeda. Tejeda was raised by her mother Teresa Tejeda and grandmother Teresa R Tejeda. She was raised in Santa Ana until the age of 20 where she moved to Anaheim to be closer to her university.

Education

Andrea Tejeda attended Santa Ana College where she completed her associates in art for transfer. She was also able to make it on the Deans List. After community college she would transfer to California State Univeristy of Fullerton. There she is in the process of obtaining her Art Education degree. After she obtains her degree she will work towards her credential so she can teach in Califorina school districts.

Andrea Tejeda practice is dedicated to traditional paintings about Mexican and American culture. Within her paintings, she brings attention to brown and black skin tones of both worlds that are often unrepresented. She wants to make them soft and delicate as well as bring up topics of race, sexism, and most importantly culture of the two.
