Dr.Darbari Lal Asthana

The famous freedom fighter and militant philosopher Late Darbari Lal Asthana had dedicated his entire life to the service of the country and social service. You were the only child of Mata Rajarani Devi and father Mukund Lal Asthana. You were born on July 24, 1905 in Agra. Your marriage was from Vrindavan resident Shanti Devi Kulshreshtha. Shanti Devi also remained active for a long time in the field of social service and for the upliftment of poor and under-aged women, you established an association named Gandhdi Samaj and gave training to women in sewing and embroidery. You have only one child Punit Asthana, who is a reputed name in the Natya Jagat. Your grandfather Anand Asthana, who has been actively working for more than 20 years in the field of journalism with the 'Pan-Naam' of the uninterrupted joy and is currently working as a reporter in the New India Times.

In the political field of Dr. Darbari Lal Asthana Ji, the state college started with the boycott of Agra during the English rule. In the famous Prem College of Vrindavan, you did a commendable work of village pothan, and by visiting several villages of Braj, you did an important job of generating the spirit of freedom and nationalism among the common people. You were sent to Shantiniketan for special study of rural economics and reconstruction work, where you got the privilege of staying with Guru Ravindranath. By living in Shanti Niketan, you studied rural economics and reconstruction. You have also been in the Ministry of All India Youth Movement of the late Yusuf Mehrli. You have also got the fame of the great spiritual leader of the throne, Mr. TL Vasavani, and while working as the Minister of the Indian cultural revival movement of Shri Vasavani ji, you visited the country for the establishment of its branches. You also worked with top leaders of the country like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.

In the 1930 Satyagraha movement started by Mahatma Gandhi, you became active in this movement with other students of Vriddavan College of Love and became completely dedicated to the freedom of motherland. In this movement, you were arrested under Section 9C-12 and on 4th August 1930 you were punished by a stringent imprisonment of six months. On 11th October 1930 you were transferred from Mathura jail to Sitapur prison. After being released from jail, you are associated with the independence movement as a key worker of the Congress. You are also a member of the Pradesh Congress Committee. You are also an influential and leading worker of Mathura and Agra Congress committees. After attaining independence, you also have medical practice while staying in Dehradun. In 1952-53 you were the Prime Minister of Nagar Congress Committee of Dehradun. After this you came to Lucknow and continued working as the Director of Gandhdi Smarak Nidhi, Lucknow for a long time. You are also a member of the cause of Uttar Pradesh Harijan Sevak Sangh. You are also a member of the Executive Committee of the State Joint Virtue Committee. In addition, you continue to work as a social worker in the form of activists and office-bearers of prestigious social institutions like Shakti Ashram and Gandhati Shanti Pratishthan. For a long time, you have been active in the field of journalism.

On March 3, 1985, you died in Au, about 80 years old. They loved children very much and always used to inspire them for love, self respect and good deeds. On behalf of the nation, Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi honored her on 15th August, 1972, for her memorial contribution in the struggle for freedom during the twenty-fifth year of independence.
