Sexau is a community in the district of Emmendingen in Baden-Württemberg in Germany, about 15 km north of Freiburg im Breisgau.
Geography
[edit]Sexau is situated at the entrance to the valley of “Brettenbachtal”, where the Black Forest joins the plains of the river Rhein.
Community structure
[edit]The community of Sexau includes the village itself, the hamlets Lörch, Vordersexau and Obersexau, the farmyards Eberbächle, Mühlebächle, Reichenbächle and Staudenhöfe, and the residential areas Am Horn, Am Schloßberg and Lindenhof. The community includes the bygone villages of Berlinsberg and Tehsmer.
History

Home of the Margraves of Baden-Hachberg was the Hochburg (high castle) in Sexau. The name derives from its original disposition into six floodplains (“Auen”).
