Prof. Laxmi Chandra Jain

Prof. L.C. (Laxmi Chandra) Jain, Son of Sh. D. L. Jain; born; Sagar (M.P.), 11 October, 1925; passed B.Sc. from Nagpur University and M.Sc. from Sagar University; joined College of Science, Nagpur in 1951 (M.P. State Educational Service), taught at Government Science College, Jabalpur during 1955—1964, is Professor and Head of Department of Mathematics at Government Post Graduate College, Sehore since 1966 to date.

Biography

Born in Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, in the family of Master Reverend Shri Damrulaal Ji and Smt. Chameli Devi, on October 11, 1925, a child with a versatile and unique talent was born in the time of auspicious constellations. Whose unparalleled ability did not even realize that in the near future this child, reserving a place in the first line of scholars of the world, would present mathematical subjects referenced from the esoteric complex texts of Jainism in a simplified way to the scholars of the world.

Early Life

Mahamana, who got his name in the world scene, was named Lakshmi Chandra Jain after his birth. The family background consisted of two sisters (Mrs. Sitara Devi and Ms. Savita Devi) and brother (Shri Komalchand).

Amidst the struggles, his academic qualifications, perseverance achieved heights through untiring hard work, in the midst of the university academic sessions, his father reverend Shri 1 Damrulal ji and the elder brother Shri Komal Chand Jain ascended to heaven. In the absence of the patriarch's umbrella, by discharging the family responsibilities, completed his Graduation in B.Sc. and Post Graduation M.Sc in Mathematics. (Applied Mathematics) degree. Leaving many jobs for the discharge of family duties, he established himself as a lecturer in a government college.

Mid Life

By accepting the worldly marital bond, in the year 1949, he entered into married life with the Smt. Basanti Devi (Gulabarani). Two daughters (one daughter passed away at a young age) and five worthy sons were born, the embodiment of Vatsalya, Mrs. Basanti Devi. For seven decades of life,he was continuously engaged in the research work of mathematics, the most important subject of Jainism.

In the midst of the continuous mathematical research journey of these seven decades, the greatness of Jain mathematics was established on the world psyche and accepting the challenges of the world, many countless research papers presented human civilization as a heritage. The mathematical principles of Jain texts written in Prakrit and Sanskrit language were translated into Hindi and English language to bring international fame.
