Zebra mussels in large quantities can clog waterways and inhibit the functions of native species.

Zebra mussels, a marine based invasive species, outcompete native wildlife in coastal and wetland areas. The abundance of zebra mussels in a certain area can inhibit native species' ability to reproduce by overcrowding a certain area of water and limiting the natives' ability to move.[1]
