An Outline of Florence Nightingale’s Life
This reading is written about Florence Nightingale’s life, family, and her impact on the history of medicine. Florence Nightingale is a nurse, who was born to a famous wealthy family on 12th May 1980 in Florence city. Her family is named after the city where she was born during their Europe trip. Her interest in medicine began from her childhood by helping the cervantes and relatives if they got sick. Father of Florence made a huge impact on her education with homeschooling in different languages and classical studies, which helped her to learn analytical skills and knowledge. Her family was against her dream of becoming a nurse, because this specialization suited more simple people and the status of Florence was too high. Despite this, she got a nursing degree in Germany and learnt there for the general knowledge in nursing. In the military hospital in Scutari, Nightingale led a group of nurses in an innovative approach. The hospitals were in awful structure, with unclean equipment and little supplies. She made sure patients received the right care, coordinated efforts to clean the area, and improved hygiene. She showed compassion and dedication, gaining the title of "the lady with the lamp" for her daily visits. Her efforts established the value of hygiene in healthcare by significantly reducing death rates. The impact of Florence Nightingale lasted after the war. The first official nursing school opened at St. Thomas' Hospital in London thanks to the "Nightingale Fund" which was established in her honour. The institution boosted the status of nursing as a profession and established criteria for nursing education.
Florence's desire to be single and her writings, specifically "Cassandra," show her strong belief that women should have more freedom in order to contribute greatly to society. She believed that women should have the chance to advance their intellectual abilities and that their roles were wildly constrained.
Similarities between Florence Nightingale and Gulsum Asfendiyrova
In summary, Florence Nightingale is similar to the Gulsum Asfendiyrova. Gulsum Asfendiyarova is the first woman in Kazakhstan, who obtained a medical degree. She also faced challenges in earning a medical degree, but her hard work and dedication helped her to achieve her dream. Both of them made an impact on commitment to public health and the healthcare system. I was amazed by their story and impact on the history of medicine, because being a woman in science and medicine is not as easy as it might seem. And in my experience and experience of my big sister, her journey becoming a nurse was not easy even in this modern world. That's why this reading was useful and important for me.
