Because of this, it is predicted that there will be 10 named storms, 5 snowstorms, and 2 major snowstorms This is the same list used in the 2018-19 Snow Season, other than the names Brenda, Dolly, Ethan, & Fay which were replaced with Bridgette, Deena, Elijah, and Fukumi respectively.

2023-2024 Season
[edit]The 2023-2024 Winter season started on November 19, 2023 and ended on March 31, 2024. A very strong El Nino is forecasted for this winter, so very little snow is expected this season, akin to the 2009-10, and 2014-15 seasons. That doesn't mean we haven't seen strong systems hit during El Ninos, it just means it isn't likely. Due to this, it is predicted that 4 named stormed will occur, with 1 Snowstorm and 0 Major Snowstorms. This is the same list used in the 2017-18 Snow Season, other than the names Desmond and Inari which were replaced with Dirk and Isla.

2022-2023 Season
[edit]The 2022-2023 Winter season started on November 20, 2022 and ended on March 31, 2023. It's been forecasted that La Nina will stick around for a bit longer. But as it was in past seasons, things have waned and varied throughout the seasons so there's never really been a solid La Nina winter. But due to the forecast, it's been predicted that there will be 9 named storms, 2 Snowstorms, and 1 Major Snowstorms. This is the same list of names used in the 2016-2017 season except for Felisha and Heather. The season kicked off early with whipping winds from Arnold on November 4th and continued at a breakneck pace. Already into mid-december, the earliest formed E-J names were used, including one for the 2nd ever named Ice Storm. The names Felicity, Hillary, & Otto were used for the first time this year.

2021-2022 Season
[edit]The 2021-2022 Winter season starts on November 21, 2021 and ended on March 31, 2022. It's been forecasted for a La Nina winter yet again. But as it was in past seasons, things have waned and varied throughout the seasons so there's never really been a solid La Nina winter. But due to the forecast, it's been predicted that there will be 11 named storms, 5 Snowstorms, and 2 Major Snowstorms. The season kicked off on October 24th with Akiko coming in as a "Bomb Cyclone" formed with a Category 4 hurricane-like 943 mbs in its low pressure system. This is the same list used in the 2015-2016 Winter season except for the name Gabrielle which was replaced with Gianna. The names Harley, Ida, Joaquin, and Katia were used for the first time this season.

2020-2021 Season
[edit]The 2020-2021 Winter Season started on November 22, 2020 and ended on March 31, 2021. As of early forecasts, it's predicted to either be a La Nina Season marginally, while having roughly the same chances as a Neutral season as well. The projections for this seasons leads with 11 named named 4 Snowstorms and 2 Major Snowstorms. A rare summer windstorm kicked off the season with Andre during a hot and dry point late in the summer. The winds caused many existing and new wildfires to worsen and threaten the area. This is the same list used in the 2014-2015 season as no names were retired that season. The names Florence & Guillermo were used for the first time this season after going unused in 2014-15.

They were replaced with Amir, Ezekiel, & Freya for the 2026-27 season.
2019-2020 Season
[edit]The 2019-2020 Winter Season started on November 24, 2019 and ended on March 31, 2020. A neutral season is predicted to occur this winter, and as with all neutral seasons, an average amount of systems should develop. It is predicted that there will be 9 named storms, 3 Snowstorms, and 1 Major Snowstorm this season. The season began the latest in history with the first named storm in mid-January. This is the same list used in the 2013-2014 season except for Dillon which replaced Duvall.

2018-2019 Season
[edit]The 2018-2019 Winter Season started on November 18, 2018 and ended on March 31, 2019. A strong El Nino has begun grown over the fall, and with this, it is expected to be an under-average season. For example, recent El Nino seasons have seen fairly little activity. And because of this, this season is predicted to have 5 named storms, 2 storms and 1 major storm. This is the same list used in the 2012-2013 season as no names were retired that year. The names Ethan and Hannah were used for the first time this year after replacing the names Erva and Hernan 12 years ago during the 2006-07 season.

Retirement
[edit]On May 19, 2019, after becoming the first Severe Windstorm since 2006 + causing power to go out for the entirety of January 6, and after causing a record 13" of snow causing tons of damage and grinding society to a halt in February, the names Brenda, Dolly, Ethan, and Fay were all retired. While Ethan didn't accumulate as much, it's weather system pulled in high pressures constantly freezing the remains of snow from Dolly. This breaks the record for how many names were retired in a season with 4 names. The previous record was held by the 2006-07 season (Anna, Erva, Hernan) and the 2011-12 season (Drake, Howard, Inez) with 3 retired names. The names alluded to earlier (Brenda, Dolly, Ethan, and Fay) will never be used to name another Winter Storm. They were replaced with Bridgette, Deena, Elijah, and Fukumi respectively for the 2024-25 Season.
2017-2018 Season
[edit]The 2017-2018 Winter Season started on November 19, 2017 and ended on March 31, 2018. A neutral forecast returns to start the season, but a La Nina should develop mid-way through. Because of this, we are expecting to see a moderate to active season including 14 named storms, 6 Cat 1+, and 2 Major storms. This is the same list used in the 2011-2012 season except for the names Drake, Howard, and Inez which were replaced with Desmond, Henri, and Inari respectively. All 3 new names were used for the first time this season, including Inari which became the 3rd ever Category 5 storm in history.

2016-2017 Season
[edit]The 2016-2017 Winter Season started on November 20, 2016 and ended on March 31, 2017. A neutral forecast returns this winter and because of this, it is predicted that we see 8 named storms, 4 Snow Storms, & 3 Major Snowstorms. However, it ended up being the 3rd most active season on record including the most powerful storm in history with Snowstorm Heather as it dropped a foot of snow on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2017. This is the same list used in the 2010-2011 season except for Bianca, the first only only Category 5 Snowstorm (Until Snowstorm Heather, later in February 2017), and Danielle which were replaced by Blaire & Denise respectively, which were used for the first time during the season.

2015-2016 Season
[edit]The 2015-2016 Season started on November 22, 2015 and ended on March 31, 2016. The El Nino from the previous year has actually maintained its grip on the area as well as becoming stronger. Since this is the case, it is predicted that little to no snow will fall in the 2015-2016 season. This will be the first season ever to start naming windstorms as they are a part of the Fall/Winter season. This new addition was brought in after Ice Storms were added in 2011/2012 due to Ice Storm Inez However, these systems can form outside of the "Snow Season" as Windstorm Akiko occurred on August 29, 2015. This is the same list of names used in the 2009-2010 season.

Retirement
[edit]On June 12, 2016, it was decided to retire the first ever name used for a windstorm, Gabrielle after winds knocked out power across the state as well as 1 death. It will never again be used for a Winter Storm. It was replaced with Gianna for the 2021-2022 season.
2014-2015 Season
[edit]The 2014-2015 Season started on November 23, 2014 and ended on March 31, 2015. Due to an El Nino in place it is predicted that there will be little to no snow, similar to what happened in the 2009-2010 season. This is the same list of names used in the 2008-2009 season except for Florence and Guillermo which replaced Fabianne and Gensen respectively. This season tied the 2009-2010 Season as the least active on record, and holds the true record since there was a winter depression on 12/4/09.

2013-2014 Season
[edit]The 2013-2014 Season started on November 24, 2013 and ended on March 31, 2014. It forecast shows a more neutral winter. Normally these winters are a lot less snow events, but more concentrated events. Similar to what the 2010-2011 season was. In that season there was 4 major snowstorms out of 8 total named storms. This is the same list of names used in the 2007-2008 Season.

2012-2013 Season
[edit]The 2012-2013 Season started on November 25, 2012 and ended on March 31, 2013. The possibility of an El Nino leaves the prediction of a lower than average season. But a month away and it remains neutral. The El Nino advisory was removed shortly before the season began, yet this season took the longest to get the first named storm to form after Aaron arrived on December 17. The season ended as the 2nd least active winter on record with only 3 named storms. This is the same list used in the 2006-2007 season except for Aaron, Ethan, and Hanna which replaced Anna, Erva, and Hernan respectively. The name Aaron was used for the first time.

2011-2012 Season
[edit]The 2011-2012 Season started on November 20, 2011 and ended on March 31, 2012. An unexpected "Double-dip" of La Lina formed in early September which with that info, forecasts an above average season. This prediction led to be true as it was the most active season in history with 20 named storms, 7 of them were category 1 or higher, 3 were major snowstorms, and created the first ever named Ice Storm. This season also had the most active January and March on record. The S, T, and V names were used for the first time this season. This is the same list used in the 2005-2006 Snow Season with the exception of Brandon which replaced Brayden respectively, which was used for the first time. This is the first snow season is history to start outside of the specified start date when Winter Storm Agatha arrived on November 17, 2011. This also broke the record for earliest A storm, which was set by Snowstorm Arnold a year ago.

Retirement
[edit]The total of 6" of snow from Drake (2") and Howard (4") as well as Inez, the first ice storm since 1996 which left about a half inch of ice on everything, caused catastrophic damage. Inez left millions without power for up to a week while destroying trees across a widespread area. So on May 20, 2012, the names Drake, Howard, and Inez were retired. They were replaced with Desmond, Henri, and Inari for the 2017-2018 season.
2010-2011 Season
[edit]The 2010-2011 Season started on November 21, 2010 and ended on March 31, 2011. This season took place during the most powerful La Nina in 55 years. With that information, the season was predicted to break numerous records that were set over the past five years. Though surprisingly, only had seven named storms, the season still broke many records, one which had the most powerful storm, Snowstorm Bianca. After the season finished however, a storm had enough snowfall to be given the name Heather on April 7.
