About me

[edit]

Thank you for visiting my user page. I am Mexican-American who lives in the Pacific Northwest and I am the first in my family to attend college. My hobbies include cutting and dyeing my hair every now and then. It's a way to express myself but I am currently growing it out cause I miss having long hair. Last year, I got interested in collecting Squishmallows. It’s become a mission to find more and add them to my collection. My Spotify playlist consists of my favorite artists such as Harry Styles and Billie Eilish. You will never find me drinking coffee. I prefer drinking a Red Bull Italian soda from any coffee stand. Other things about me: I am an elementary school paraeducator, I am a Libra, and I have an interest in maintaining house plants. Most house plants help with reducing stress and help purify the air in your home.[1]

My Wikipedia interests

[edit]

If you see I have a tab from Wikipedia on my laptop, I am probably exploring and being more involved here. Now that I made a page, I am interested to start making small changes here and there to pages. Or even creating pages for people or places that aren't that well known. Don't worry, I will try my best to keep them true and unbiased.

Article evaluation

[edit]

I am currently interning for a youth group called Youth for Christ, which is a non-profit organization. I have been a student in their programs in my middle and high school years. I visited the Youth for Christ article on Wikipedia, and found three aspects of it worth commenting on: lack of reliable sources, it’s not up-to-date with the timeline, and the incompleteness of mentioning the 3Story model.

Reliable Sources

[edit]

This article has done a decent job of adding their citations, however most of them are not so reliable. As I was looking at references, two of their sources were no longer there when I tried to open the website up. The other sources I looked into don't really relate to what this article is trying to cite.

Timeline

[edit]

There is a great introduction to its history yet it lacks to be up-to-date. The article gives us a timeline from the 1940s to early 2000s. It would be great to know information from the 2010s to now. It could be great knowing how they are doing now and to see if their mission still applies.

3Story

[edit]

When I went to the programs, Youth for Christ always included how the 3Story was important and what it means. It’s disappointing to see this article didn’t include 3Story and what it meant. After all, it’s the main symbol/logo of Youth for Christ.

Summary

[edit]

I think this article of Youth for Christ overall did a great work on introducing the origin of Youth for Christ and giving us a bit of history. However this article doesn’t provide great reliable sources that don’t relate with what they are trying to cite the article either. It is not up-to-date since the timeline they give us ends in the early 2000s. It needs some updating. Also, I believe this article is missing a great piece of their mission.
