Almar Postma

[edit]

Almar studied chemistry at the University of Surrey in England, completing his BSc. (Hons) in 1996, investigating the synthesis of β-tryptophan under the direction of Dr. Maurice M. Coombs. Promptly there after he started working at CSIRO working on controlled living radical polymers under Dr. Graeme Moad. Specifically Macromonomers, CCT, NMP, RAFT and ATRP. Followed by work on HDPE recycling with the CRC for Polymers under Dr. Mike O'Shea. Almar completed his Ph.D. from University of New South Wales in 2005 under Prof. Tom P. Davis on the synthesis of end-functional polymers and graft copolymers. After which he became a postdoctoral research fellow at the Nanostructured Interfaces & Materials Group (University of Melbourne) under Prof. Frank Caruso, applying RAFT & polydopamine to capsule based delivery systems.

Since 2008 he has been at CSIRO working on a variety of applications of RAFT polymerisation.
